During the Electrotechnical Installation Technician training program, you'll learn all about electrical engineering. You'll learn to safely install, assemble, repair, and renovate electrical installations and systems. These can include general control and distribution systems, lighting and power systems, building management systems, data and telecom systems, and security systems.
The training is directly linked to practical experience, allowing you to learn a great deal and quickly. You'll learn the basics of electricity and magnetism. You'll also learn more about components like lighting, transformers, and motors. Ultimately, you'll be the one installing electrical systems. You'll learn to read drawings of basic circuits and recognize symbols.
The first year
If you're taking the BBL program, you'll attend mboRijnland one day a week and work four days a week at an accredited training company. Depending on your age, you can also enroll in an evening program. You'll then attend classes two evenings at one of mboRijnland's locations and work four to five days a week at a company. Classes are held in specially equipped practical and theory classrooms.
Throughout your program, you'll be paired with a study career counselor (SLB'er). The SLB'er is there to support you and answer your questions. You'll have several meetings with your SLB'er each year. These meetings primarily focus on academic progress, attendance, academic performance, or behavioral goals, but also address topics such as your well-being and future aspirations. The instructors maintain an open and supportive atmosphere.
Subjects and electives
If you're taking the BBL program, you'll primarily learn through practical experience. This practical experience will be provided at the company where you're contracted. While working at the company, you'll be supervised by a staff member from your company and your instructor from mboRijnland. This instructor will visit your company throughout your program to discuss your progress with you and your supervisor.
The topics covered during your studies are designed to help you practically install direct current, alternating current, circuits, and wiring. To broaden or deepen your program, you'll also take several electives. You can choose from electives such as Sustainability, Entrepreneurship Orientation, or Mathematics and Language at a higher level.
What makes this course more than just vocational education?
