Minister Bruins on a working visit to mboRijnland

On Monday, March 11, Minister Bruno Bruins visited our Strom Buysingstraat location. He spoke with students and alumni of the Sports and Exercise program. Bruins was updated on the importance of sports and exercise in our daily lives and the job opportunities available to students of this program.

The first presentation, given by third-year students, focused on innovative education. The students illustrated this using a project they are currently working on: testing the health of Bonaventura College students. The interim report showed a somewhat worrying picture regarding flexibility, endurance, muscle strength, etc. Our students' task was to devise a solution. What keeps young people off the couch or behind their screens?

The second presentation focused on the versatility of the Sports and Exercise program. Three alumni, all now with their own businesses, were willing to explain this to the minister. The common thread running through all three stories was that the program had helped these alumni in their personal development. What are they good at? What do they love? And what areas benefit from collaboration with others? Each of them had gone their own way, one even completely outside the industry. He owns a call center where he manages around 100 employees. And all thanks to the Sports and Exercise program.

Finally, the minister was updated on the Leiden King's Games approach and its connection to mboRijnland. Animated discussions followed between the minister, students, and lecturers. Insights were exchanged, and assignments were given to "The Hague."
